Bring solar to our schools
For every home that goes solar, we set aside funds towards building an educational solar installation. If our Solarize project installs solar on 30 roofs, we will have earned enough money to build and donate a new solar system for a Chapel Hill / Carrboro City School. The educational solar system will be easily accessible by the students and filled with extra educational features.
Our Solarize Carrboro project in the spring raised enough funds to build an solar installation at McDougle Middle, and we held the dedication on Oct. 24.
How can I be involved?
When you sign up, select a school to support. After the program deadline, if we get to 30 rooftops with solar, we'll add up the votes from the people that are going solar, and the winning school will get a new educational solar system.
What if my home isn't suitable for solar? Can I still contribute?
Yes! Your contribution is tax deductible and qualifies for the NC State Renewable Tax Credit, so this is a great way to convert your tax bill into local solar. Donations of $100 will be tastefully recognized on a sign near the installation.
